Rustomjee Plans Holi celebration exclusively for Toddlers

When it comes to childhood, it is the time for creating memories for both parents and kids. The most tender and cute moments are when kids are still toddlers and display the most adorable antics. Yet, this is also the time when parents are most protective of their kids and rightly so. This means that festivals like Holi are usually a ‘no go’ for the little kiddos for there is always the chance of some issue with their delicate skin or a greater possibility of eye infections due to the harsh Holi colours or that a child may get hurt due to the exuberance of older children or even adults.

Well, Rustomjee has made sure that the festival of Holi and all the fun associated with is is now available to the tiny tots as well. At the Festive Plaza there has been planned a Holi celebration like no other where only kids below 5 years of age and their parents may participate. It’s a Holi Playdate and ensuring that it’s completely safe and child friendly, Rustomjee will be providing herbal colours for the event as well. Music, dance, fun activities and merriment will be the order of the day.

So parents get your little tots together, keep your cameras at the ready and capture the fun memories at Rustomjee Urbania where childhood’s available!

Leon’s World Takes You on The Adventures of Aladdin

Leon’s World Centre for Holistic Learning and Development has been staging meaningful theatre for over a year. At the beginning of the New Year, they are continuing on this journey of enriching young minds with stories that get them thinking and introspecting. The unusual manner of presentation of the plays, whether enacted by talented actors or with the use of puppets has been a source of great entertainment for the kids and their parents alike.

This time around, Leon’s World is associating with Ethiros Theatre to stage The Adventures of Aladdin – A Shadow Play. The presentation of the play will be unlike any other seen on the Leon’s World stage as the actors will form enchanting shapes and silhouettes on the screen as their enact the different scenes from the play – shadow play indeed.

The storyline revolves around a little girl who gets immersed in a book about Aladdin and the adventures he shares with his Genie. As she is reading, the characters in her book suddenly come alive and she finds herself experiencing the story as it enfolds. She follows Aladdin and his Genie across several continents and countries only to realize the shocking truth that the end of the world is imminent because of the actions of humans. She begs Aladdin to take the help of the Genie to save the earth, but then realizes that each one of us has the power to take small steps towards saving our planet. The Genie dwells in us all, we just need to motivate ourselves to do something to save this planet that we call home.

The dance and music of the play simply cannot be missed. The use of shadow play to enact the story is an amazingly innovative way of presentation that will leave the audience mesmerized.

Happy Parenting Is A Day Out With Kids

Children are like sponges, they absorb every experience and everything in the atmosphere around them. This includes the mood their parents are in. So if parents are regularly stressed about things and constantly concerned about how their children will succeed in the future, planning a career from kindergarten, that is bound to rub off on them and lead to kids who have behavioral and emotional issues. But more and more parents are coming to realize that they sometimes need to ‘back off’ and let their children actually enjoy their, all too brief, childhood.

Welcome to the new age of ‘Happy Parenting’ where parents acknowledge that not every child can be a prodigy and where personal time is given precedence over structured classes. There are so many ways in which parents can engage with their children and ensure their holistic development without actually making children aware that they are part of a learning exercise. For instance, playing with mud and building things like a fort is excellent for their fine motor skills and imagination – who would have thought it!

Rustomjee Urbania, a township designed around the concept of ‘Childhood’s Available’, is celebrating happy parenting with a special ‘Kids Day Out’ which is dedicated to not just the children but parents and families on the 1st of December 2018.

This will be an ‘eventful’ day to say the least, with super activities to participate in which range from sports to creative arts and music and dance. Kabbadi League, Music and Movement, Kinesthetic Play, Baby Wearing Dance, Toddler Art, Stone Art, Twig Raft Creation, Soap Making, Painting Elements of Nature, Stitching, Childhood Games, Board Games, Clown Show, Mandala Art, Mud Kila, Scavenger Hunt, Photography Workshop, Free Painting, Folk Music, Bubble Display, Street Play… the list is endless. The activities have been planned so that kids of all age groups can enjoy with their parents. Leon’s World Centre for Holistic Learning and Development, Sports Area, Festival Plaza and Urban Farming zone at Rustomjee Urbania will be the venues for the various activities around the township. Moreover, the Urban Farming Zone will also host a Farmer’s Market where interesting organic and healthy produce will be available for sale.

The mega event in honor of #HappyParenting will culminate with the screening of an Open Air Movie at the Festival Plaza. The movie is tilted ‘Gauru: Journey of Courage’ has won two major awards at the 13th China International Children’s Film Festival. The story is set in the hinterland of Rajasthan, based on the hardships of the shepherd community during the time of drought. Gauru’s grandmother’s one wish before she dies is to see her native place where she has never been since her marriage. Her son Ratnu refuses to take her as the village is very far away and in the time of drought there is barely any money to feed his family let alone consider going on a journey. The thirteen year old Gauru decides to fulfill his grandmother’s wish. He sets off with her, his sister and his sheep into the harsh desert landscape – the story traces their moments of hope and despair and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit. The movie will be a fitting end to an amazing day.

Implementation of CREDAI Clean City Movement at BMC’s Park in Bandra, Mumbai – A CRS project by RUSTOMJEE in Association with BMC

As part of Community Social Responsibility, Rustomjee in association with CREDAI Clean City Movement and BMC set up Organic Waste Composters for Solid Waste Management for residents near Guru Nanak Park, Bandra West.

Unlike all Municipal Gardens, Gurunanak Park also had some reserved space for `Compost Pit’, which is utilized for setting-up CCCM’s’ Bio-Digester Bins. CCCM is recognized for treating bio-degradable wet waste and converting it into Organic Manure using Aerobic Microbial system. With this project approx. 2.5 tons of wet waste will not go to the dumping ground.

Implementation of the system was done on Saturday, 20th October 2018, in a formal inaugural programme in presence of Asst. Commissioner, MCGM – Mr Sharad Ughade and Corporator Ms Swapna Mhatre and Mr Boman Irani, CMD, Rustomjee and Vice President-CREDAI-National and CREDAI-MCHI. Mr Ughade obliged the ladies from nearby buildings to cut the ribbon as they will be actually participating in #sourcelevelsegregation initiative.

On this occasion, Mr Sharad Ughade spoke to the residents about the need of Decentralised Solid Waste Management and appreciated ideal solution organic composters conceptualized by CREDAI. He wished to replicate this model in other BMC Parks.

Bio Bins Installed at Guru Nanak Park

According a Planning Commission report on Waste Management, 377 million people living in 7,935 urban centers generate 62 million tons of Municipal Solid Waste per year, which is based on an average per capita generation of 450gm per person per day. Urban local bodies spend around INR 500 to INR 1,500 on per metric ton on solid waste management, out of which 60% to 70% is usually spent on collection, and 20% to 30% on transportation.

Indian infrastructure sector has received a boost with the government’s focus on smart cities and development. Both commercial and residential segments have witnessed a growth across the country. With a growing number of high-rise buildings, commercial business parks and industrial complexes being developed, there is an increase in solid waste output. This calls for an efficient waste management system since an inefficient one has led to all types of pollution.

Contribution by CREDAI:

CREDAI has joined hands to the Hon’ble Prime Minister in his `Swachha Bharat Mission’.

CREDAI Clean City Movement is supporting `Swachha Bharat Mission’. CREDAI ensures that the buildings constructed by CREDAI members will not be source of pollution and they will maintain the city clean.
This initiative will also speed up our growth towards building `Smart Cities’ as per Prime Minister’s vision to `Build 100 Smart Cities’.

CREDAI is dedicated to create model cities and make all buildings `Self-sufficient’ for Solid Waste Management. In this year, 10 million residences will join hands together for CREDAI Clean City Movement’ and CREDAI will give leadership and facilities.
