Leon’s World Open Mic: Showcase Your Child’s Talent

The one thing that most people are afflicted with is Stage Fright. Even as adults many confess to have ‘mic fear’ – public speaking and performing comes naturally to a lucky few. What is important is that children at a very young age are encouraged to go on stage and perform before a live audience. The more often they do it, the easier it will be to overcome their innate shyness and truly blossom into confident personalities who can face any audience – large or small.

Leon’s World has always been completely focused on ensuring the holistic development of children. This includes boosting their confidence and enabling them to develop well-rounded personalities. In keeping with this, Leon’s World has now initiated the Open Mic platform which will be open to all children between the ages of 3 – 15 on the 4th Sunday of every month.

Children can come on stage to showcase their various talents, no matter what they feel like presenting, anything and everything is welcome – Singing, Play of Instruments, Dance, Recitation, Drama, Stand-up Comedy or Display of Sporting skills. Solo or in a group, all performances will be appreciated and applauded by an encouraging audience who know what it takes just to be up there on the stage. No competition, no stress, no pressure – all are winners here at the Leon’s World Open Mic.

Tea – The Brew For All Times

Tea – something that we take for granted in our daily lives. Many, countless, households start their day with a cup of their favorite brew. In fact, tea is the second most consumed drink or liquid in the world, second only to water! There are over 1500 varieties of tea in the world. It was only fitting then that Rustomjee organized a special session dedicated to this universal and much preferred brew.

The well-appointed lobby of Rustomjee Paramount was the perfect location for a Tea Tasting Session hosted on 21st May 2007. Living up to the name of ‘My Spaces’ Sunday afternoon allowed over 60 guests the luxury of space and time to enjoy their leisurely pursuit of knowing more about tea. The tea tasting and sommelier session was planned in association with the Tea Culture of the world which presented the guests with the experience of over 12 different varieties of tea and brewing techniques. The guests were pleasantly surprised to get tea samples as gifts to take back with them as aromatic and flavorful keepsakes of the day.

Everyone agreed that it had been the most pleasant way to spend a Sunday and even gain some new insights into this amazing drink that has so many variants. Rustomjee once again proved that it is possible to have it all – a career in the metro city, a home in one of the best residential areas and luxurious amenities as well as the ‘My Space’ in which to pursue your hobbies and interests and just Be!

Father’s Day – Make it a Special One for the Whole Family!

There is an old adage that says, ‘a father is a boy’s first hero and a daughter’s first love,’ it still holds true today – all relationships that a child has in the future are flavoured by the one they have shared with their father. In fact, more and more studies are showing the importance of a father in a child’s growing, formative years. In fact, fathers of this generation are spending more time, almost 45% more, with their children than those of previous generations. The more involved and supportive a father is, the better the child’s development – cognitive, social, academic and the child develops a better sense of self.

Father’s Day is a special day to appreciate a father’s or a father figure’s influence in a child’s life. The idea of celebrating Father’s Day was first voiced by Sonora Dodd, in the USA, who wanted to honour her father who had brought up six children as a single parent with a lot of patience, love and sacrifice. She wanted the world to know that mothers may be the primary caregivers but fathers hold a very important place in a child’s life. Today, over a century since Sonora campaigned for a Father’s Day, it is celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year in several countries around the globe.

Dads are usually seen as the ‘cool’ parent, the one who is less protective and encourages his kids to explore and move out into the world. A father is the one children turn when it comes to physical activities – when it comes to sports – its Dad all the way! A dad can always be relied upon when it comes to advice on tackling bullies or issues at school. Even Sigmund Freud, has postulated that the greatest need of a child in childhood is that of a father’s protection. Mentor, role model, friend, coach, disciplinarian, protector – a father has so many roles to play in a child’s life…seeing them through life’s ups and downs till the very end.

Unfortunately, most of the time, one finds father’s so caught up in the rat race and the need to be a good provider for the family, that they are left with little time or energy to engage with their children. Due to this, there could be a strain in the bond of this immensely valuable relationship.

Father’s need to make time to be with their children, if not every day of the week, then at least on Sunday’s when ‘going to work’ doesn’t demand all their time. It is no co-incidence that Father’s Day is celebrated on a Sunday! It’s never too late to start building a stronger bond with your child and there are so many ways to do it – become the storyteller at bedtime, weaving magic into their dreams, be their one man cheerleading squad as they strive to make you proud in the sporting arena, help with homework….do anything to forge that connection that is uniquely yours.

Rustomjee, the thoughtful developer, understands the importance of fathers in a child’s life. Which is why at Leon’s World, Rustomjee Urbania, there are not only activities that are geared towards the holistic development of a child, but also that encourage family bonding. This Father’s Day, 18th June, dads and kids can treat themselves to an amazing time at Leon’s World Centre with great activities that will make spending time together super fun! Team up with your kids for Cricket Mania, Hoop Away, Sock The Ladder, My Daddy Strongest , Minute to Win and Hit The Wicket. For children between the ages of 3 – 14 and dads of all ages, mothers are welcome too. At Leon’s World, Father’s Day is just another reason to have a family Fun-day!

Urbania Summer Camp – The Fun Way To Learn

Summer days are for fun and excitement and that is exactly what the Urbania Summer Camp at Leon’s World presented to the children.

After the success of the Winter Camp, the kids and parents both had great expectations from the Summer Camp and Leon’s World did not disappoint. The schedule and activities had been planned in such a way as to cater to everyone’s diverse interests and also allowed children to explore different facets of the creative arts and sports. Some were one day workshops while others comprised of daily sessions for the week. The amazing aspect of the camp was the flexibility it offered with children being free to choose activities and timings as per their convenience. Family time is given a great priority at Rustomjee and in keeping with that mindset, several workshops were planned where the parents could participate with their children and bond over fun!

Right at the moment of entering Leon’s World they were transported into a world of bright colours and quirky settings that fired their imagination. The newly appointed décor of Leon’s World has been especially designed for children. From acoustics in the music room, to the beautiful stage, replete with red curtain, in the mini theatre, every detail has been planned to perfection. Every room, every niche holds something new and interesting for them, which made it the perfect setting for the Urbania Summer Camp.

There were over 100 registrations for the Urbania Summer Camp and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The interactive style of conducting the workshops was not only innovative but got the children involved and gave them the freedom to express themselves. The play Binya Ki Chatri, based on Ruskin Bond’s The Blue Umbrella, was a big hit. The Robomate and Robostormes got the children to experience the laws of science in a fun way while budding magicians were enthralled by the street magic workshops. Cricket enthusiasts got to up their game at the camp, while gymnastics made the kids more limber and provided a constrictive outlet for their energy. The musically inclined as well as those who like to boogey got a taste of the techniques involved. Budding artists not only created their masterpieces but were given a peek into art history and the styles of master artists through the ages.

Speaking about the camp, Mr.Percy S. Chowdhry, Director, Rustomjee Group said, “It has always been our endeavor to make living at Rustomjee an enjoyable experience for all our residents. Childhood is a such an essential and yet fleeting part of growing up that we would like to make these precious years memorable for all the children living within the precincts of our projects. We strive, through our various amenities, green open space and other initiatives, to give children and families a complete, holistic life which goes beyond the mere existential parameters. Leon’s World and the Urbania Summer Camp are one such way in which we are investing in the future – the children.”

The camp concluded with a grand finale that started with a yoga session and then went onto a showcase of Play Back Theatre. The fun wasn’t about to end just yet as Hope – An Opera of Puppets had the audience glued to their performance. This was followed by a Jamming Session by GMC and the camp had an appropriate ending with Drum Circle getting kids and to beat to the rhythm of their heart.

The best part of Leon’s World is that while the Urbania Summer Camp is over, so many of these activities will still continue. The camp was just a taste of what Leon’s World has to offer the children all year round – At Leon’s World, fun and learning are for all seasons!

A Cuppa for all Seasons!

Tea is one of the primary beverages consumed in India; go to any Indian home and chances are that the first thing offered to you will be a strong and fragrant cup of tea.

The Season’s Lifestyle Gallery at Rustomjee Seasons, BKC Annexe, was the perfect locale for an event that reinvented the concept of ‘high tea’. Tea Tasting and Desert Fest’, hosted on 28th April 2017, presented a variety of the finest teas from across the globe to connoisseurs of this particular beverage.

The event was organized exclusively for those who appreciate the finer things in life, which of course, includes those who find Rustomjee Seasons a perfect residential option. Curated by tea Sommelier Meera Thacker along with the Tea Board of India, the event offered the participants the opportunity to learn more about the beverage, taste different varieties of tea from across the globe and also become Tea Sommeliers for a day.Paired with the teas were a delectable variety of desserts.

All the participants were very appreciative of the manner in which the ‘fest’ was organized; while most were aware of the strong black tea and green tea variants commonly available, they were quite amazed to taste ‘white’ tea and other exotic variants.

The event concluded with several participants taking photo ops at the booth especially set up at the venue. Social media was abuzz with posts regarding this unique initiative at the Seasons Lifestyle Gallery, with many awaiting the next installment.

The Tea Tasting and Desert Fest’ served to highlight the Rustomjee concept of ‘My Space’ where residents of Rustomjee enjoy the luxury of having their own ‘space’ to pursue their hobbies, try out new activities and develop new interests outside the usual mundane activities of work and home. There is so much more to life and that is what living at Rustomjee is all about!

Art in The Park – Making Memories at Urbania!

It was a Sunday evening like never before at Rustomjee Urbania, where families came together to enjoy a few fun hours communing with nature and enjoying the finer arts. This exuberant event witnessed participation of nearly 200 families from Thane and other parts of the city.

The ‘ART IN THE PARK’ event which was open to all, was a time to introduce the children to the idea of being out in the open indulging in some creative activities. Amidst much giggling and laughter, the kids got their creative juices flowing as they participated in the many activities that had been specially planned for them. Parents got the opportunity to just chill, forget about their cell phones and enjoy some quality time with their kids – the parent child art workshop was a big hit and it was amusing to see the adults trying their hand at creating a masterpiece. Some in fact admitted that they had last held a paintbrush when they were in school!

ARTINTHEPARK COLLAGE1

Mr. Percy Chowdhry, Director, Rustomjee Group, said, “The philosophy of thoughtfulness and child friendliness has always reflected in all of Rustomjee’s projects. Organizing and hosting an event like Art in The Part is a part of Rustomjee’s endeavor to give families a chance to spend quality time with each other. In fact, we have also organized other such events in the past like the Urbania Summer Fest 2015 & 2016, the Urbania Farm Fest and many more activities at Leon’s World.”

ARTINTHEPARK COLLAGE2

A focus on creating an atmosphere that encourages a holistic childhood is what drives these initiatives by Rustomjee. It is a scientific fact that movements like holding colours and brushes, making strokes all aid in the development and improvement of fine motor skills. Studies show art helps in thinking, creating, focusing and concentration. In addition when kids are given complete freedom in creating art, they develop a sense of innovation that will be important in their adult lives. Other than being a recreational activity, art is a medium for self-expression and plays a big role in the psychological development of children.

It was amazing to watch the children try their hand not only at the traditional colouring and drawing but also natural garden art and collage making. It was a time for being in the moment and following where your imagination led you not worrying about competitions or being judged.

ARTINTHEPARK COLLAGE3

And what’s a time in the park without some story time under the shade of a tree while resting on the soft grass? We lost count of the number of kids, and even adults, who gathered around to hear some interesting tales.

For those with still oodles of energy left, there was street folk music and colour step dance to really set the party mood.

There is a wonderful vibe that one gets when surrounded by pristine green surroundings which is what the Urban Farming Zone at the Urbania is all about. It was a time of bonhomie and community and the best part was that they never wanted the evening to end!

Radius7 meets Rustomjee Oriana – A New Beginning

Twenty years ago, concierges developed on a manic scale, in order to answer every request for help. Information was generally sourced from libraries, telephone books, atlases, five inch thick guides to hotels around the world, a dictionary to cater to multilingual requests, flight schedules for national and international travel, restaurant guides and an incredible amount of brochures on local attractions and so on. Almost all of which are now replaced by computer access.

Over the years, the profession has gone through a major transition, more so after the advent of the internet. For instance, hotel guests who in the past placed blind trust on the concierge at their destination to orient them to their new surroundings and connect them with tourist destinations, local shopping, street food joints and serve a myriad other needs — have started independently scouring the internet for reservations and more. And why wouldn’t they? When along with access to pictures of the rooms, authentic information about owners etc. is given along with unbelievably attractive rebates on advance bookings.

Before the internet age, when an unusual request was made to a concierge, it could sometimes take innumerable hours of research, countless telephone calls, digging through endless books. An example comes to mind, there was one time a request was made by a certain VIP guest from the Middle East. He’d read about a cane with laser beams. It was specifically designed to aid a blind person and emitted laser beams to sense the person’s surroundings. He wondered where he could purchase one for his father. You can imagine the amount of research and man hours that must’ve gone into procuring this very article. But the internet age has changed the entire game. From hours and hours of manual effort — that sometimes got no results — we’ve reached an age where we can simply “Google it” as we say. And voila you’ve got your answer in less than a micro second. Why then would you need a concierge? Another valid question.

And here’s the answer:

1) Because humans trump over technology:
Keeping all Terminator references aside, ask yourself, for something as simple as which new sushi joint you should try, would you rather trust a friend’s suggestion or an internet based poll?
Point being, we’re constantly looking for someone who can understand us. Someone who’s really listening to us. That one person who notes the highs in our expressions and the lows in our voices. When you’re commanding a computer, it’s mechanical. Its knowledge is restricted to what you’re feeding into it. But when you’re communicating with a human being — they understand you at a whole different level. They can sense your impulses. They can relate to your reasons, your choices. And out of years and years of experience know what to advise. For instance, they’ll recommend a restaurant to you, not because it’s got the highest ratings or an Oscar winning movie — but because they can sense you would appreciate it — at a natural, human level. It is the human contact, the sympathetic ear that makes the impact on the guest.

2) For personalised, proactive and honest service:
When you’ve had a long day at work and want to hit the bar with your friends, you don’t want a technical ‘no results found’ (or worse, 404 error) response to your query. You want quick recommendations and a table waiting for you when you reach.

Users, worldwide, prefer to rely on someone with experience. Whether they need help planning a budget trip abroad, tips on where they can find the antique vase they’ve been hunting for since ages or even for the more mundane but essential things, like quickly getting a shoe repaired or which bar is open till 6 in the morning — what they’re looking for is someone with the expertise, wisdom and a hands-on experience to guide them. They need help from the one person whose sole aim is to fulfill their requirements. And that’s exactly the kind of insight that the concierge loves to share with its users.

3) To save valuable time:
Mainly the most important reason people still use the concierge, despite the guests’ own prowess with the internet, is time, or the lack of it. Juggling high profile careers and family responsibilities leave no time for anything else. It can be excruciatingly time-consuming to do research on a computer. Also what you may find on the information highway is not always accurate or timely. All of us have heard the horror stories that family and friends have related to us about the hotel or inn that looked gorgeous online, only to be dirty, dilapidated and in some cases, even dangerous. If only they had checked with a trusted, knowledgeable concierge, especially one with local or international connections, they could have saved themselves both time and grief. A professional concierge has expertise and access to colleagues all over the world and can get accurate information through that network to avoid disappointments that come with misleading advertising.

4) For first hand knowledge:
While we’ve all got access to the search engines, half knowledge is a curse. Why shoot in the dark on the internet when you can ask for a personal recommendation from a reliable local expert? Your concierge service will be able to remove the unknown element and give you trusted information out of experience. Which roads to avoid during the rains, how to get an instant travel visa for business trips abroad and the like. The internet is not always a reliable, real time source.

5) All you need to do is just ask:
What’s the difference between a dedicated concierge and a web service? It’s that all you need to do is just ask. It rules out the need to go through a whole list of complicated processes and procedures. All you need to do is simply pick up the phone and communicate your requirements and rest assured that it’ll be taken care of. For instance, say you need to surprise your girlfriend with a bouquet of flowers, You don’t need to scroll through endless pages online, trying to find the exact bouquet that fits your budget and your girlfriend’s choice. You just need to either email, text via phone or call your concierge and ask them to send flowers to a particular address and the rest of it will be tailored to your needs.

Lastly, a concierge service is not for everyone — some people will always choose to do things themselves, others will enjoy spending hours on research and some will feel they just don’t need external help. Concierge services are for people who lead busy lives, who need someone to help with running their lives. It’s for people who would rather spend their time actually enjoying life instead of planning to enjoy life. And for those in the know, there are countless benefits of a concierge service that can help clients with every travel, lifestyle and leisure needs that they don’t have the time, expertise or inclination to do themselves.

Several Rustomjee residents often have requirements that can be handled by concierge services, but due to busy schedules, it is usually hard for them to reach out to the necessary agencies and then manage it on their own. We understand how time consuming it can be to do things perfectly, with high standards and attention to detail. This is why Rustomjee Oriana has partnered with Radius7.

From elegance coupled with a quiet eloquent wit that refine a lifestyle made gentler in an urban jungle, Rustomjee has endeavored to project Seasons being expressive of a home and not a house – a home inspiring a kaleidoscope of cherished emotions woven into the spaces being prepared for not the buyer of a house but a home, a space that Rustomjee believes that the potential residents can identify of as “MY SPACE” and even if the resident is away on travel for leisure or business, will always carry their home at Rustomjee Seasons in mind.

Seasons is being designed as a space measured not by space, but by the quality of life that appeal to the mind in pursuit of a home from a house. Each corner of this privileged Lifestyle Gallery revolves around each space being designed not as an interior design plan but an expression of spatial experience.

About Rustomjee Seasons:

Located in the heart of tomorrow, the BKC Annexe, Rustomjee Seasons features 3, 3.5 and 4 bedroom bespoke residences designed by eminent architect Sanjay Puri. The contemporary technology is reflected in every corner of the project, setting it apart from all the residential projects in BKC. Spread across an expansive 4 acres, it invites you to a new kind of life. Where twelve-hour workdays still leave you will still leave you with enough time for you. Where your interest don’t take a backseat to your commitments. And where the phrase ‘so much to do’ so little time, takes an entirely more pleasant meaning. Rustomjee Seasons is built on the simple principle that work shouldn’t get in the way of having a life.

Apart from the Lifestyle Gallery, the project believes in creating a wholesome living experience for its residents with amenities like Gymnasium, Yoga Deck, Meditation Pod for the health conscious; special amenities like Adventure Playground, reading alcove, indoor gaming room for children and other facilities like Poolside Cabanas, Outdoor Lounge, Barbeque Pit and Mini Theatre.
