When Swedish teenage activist Greta Thunberg stood in the United Nations and criticized world leaders about their inaction on doing anything substantial for stemming climate change she set in motion a wave of awareness across the globe. More youngsters of the millennial are realizing that ultimately it is their generation who is going to bear the responsibility of coping with climate change and perhaps by then it may be too late.
At Rustomjee Urbania the young millennials have banded together to do make a difference. As #Urbaniagoesgreen the Green Squad of young environmentalists will work towards making small changes that will have a big impact on the environment. The Green Squad was formed on the 10th of November and there has been a series of events and workshops that have been planned to get them started on their way to be eco-warriors.
They will be guided on how nature works and how they can make a difference by setting an example in their own lives and inspiring others. From nature walks in the Urban Farming sector of Urbania to creating posters advocating ‘going green’ the kids are going to do it all. They will attend workshops that will teach them how to do composting to vegetable waste and also how to live a chemical free life. Their creativity will be brought to the fore with activities Lego Robotics E-vehicles workshop and using scrap to create artworks. There will be a mega event – Kids Day Out 2 on the 30th November but this will not be the culmination but rather the grand beginning for the Urbania Green Squad. They will act today so that in the future no child will have to question the world ‘How Dare You?’
